ENVIRONMENT SIMULATION AND IMPACT ASSESSMENT SYSTEM FOR THE MINING INDUSTRY

Summary

A conceptual model linking environmental data with their sources was designed and relationships between the components of the geosystem were established, accountig for the non-linear interaction between the orebody and other natural resources located in the vicinity of the mine sites.
The integration of large volumes of disparate information was performed taking advantage of GIS technology. The system was installed in the mines, and user interfaces were constructed, in order to customize the operational transfer of model results into the GIS.
An extensive training program of the mine staff was carried out, integrating the environmental component into mine planning, according to the strategic policy of the industrial partners.
